Welcome to the website of the Universal Language Centre. We were formed in 1976 and have since built up a reputation as an educational establishment of the highest standard in teaching English language courses. Our courses are designed for people willing to learn English or for people wishing to improve their English skills based in Manchester.
By 1991, we moved to a city centre location on Canal Street based in Manchester, a lively area which was only 30 years ago a dark depressing area with derelict warehouses being reminders of the cotton industry once part of Manchester itself. Several years later, a vibrant music scene, nightlife and shopping facilities has since made our city a great place to visit.

As well as enabling students to learn English in a relaxed environment, we also offer courses in French, Italian and Spanish.
Our English language courses are available in elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. We offer a wide range of attendance modes, such as part time courses, one-to-one tuition and holiday courses. Our holiday courses enable you to improve English skills, whilst taking in the sights of Manchester. These include the city’s many art galleries, the URBIS centre, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Old Trafford, home of Manchester United Football Club.
Our training centre is well placed for local and regional bus and coach services, being close to Manchester Central (Chorlton Street) Coach Station. Within a short distance are Manchester Piccadilly and Oxford Road railway stations with fast connections to London, a variety of local services and other intercity services. The nearest Metrolink tram station is Piccadilly Gardens with trams to Bury, Eccles and Altrincham.
